Things are moving along!
If you look at the pic here compared to two weeks ago, you probably can't see the difference. But what's not openly visible in the updated pic is our brand new floor (under the cover), and all the drywall repairs we did, and hanging small bits of new drywall! And when I say we, I mean me (and Mike on Saturdays). Do we know what we're doing? No! But I do love a challenge and I love to learn new things.
I try to never live with regrets, turning every experience into a lesson, and this time is no different. If I *could* go back in time and do this again, I'd run the job myself. I hired someone to run the job to make it easier on me since I'm also running my two little businesses, but it only made it more complicated. The biggest lesson I've learned through this experience, is:
ALWAYS TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS.
This is something I already know, something we all know, but don't always follow. I brushed my little gut flutters aside a few times in favor of keeping the peace, and because they were hitting on some doubts ("maybe I AM being too controlling", "maybe I DON'T know enough about how this usually works", etc), and to keep a friendship. What I ended up with was a half-done job that will take twice as long to fix and finish, and lost the friendship anyway.
But, what I also ended up with was more emotional peace, the ability to pause and step back to make sure everything is how I want it, and a chance to learn some new skills and put more of myself into this shop.
Coming up this week I'm hoping to finish the drywall on three walls, and to case and install doors on the storage areas. There's a fourth wall that's more complicated and a drop ceiling that needs to be installed - I'm holding out hope that someone can squeeze me into their schedule for those (everyone is booked out for months!)
If you want to be part of this transformation, please check out our IndieGoGo! As I'm writing this, there's just one day left of our campaign. Although you can donate through IndieGoGo, it’s set up so you receive “perks” (like teas) when you contribute. Any contributions, no matter how big or small, will help us!
If you love our teas, or Wunder Budder, or how you can refill your herb jars and soap bottles, or buy ingredients to make your own herbal products, or you love some of the maker-made bodycare or gifts we carry, please tell your friends! We’re still shipping, offering order pickups (even refills), and doing local deliveries during this time. Check our Current Info page for details.
I’ll keep sharing updates. Our Instagram has a pinned story where you can see the progress.
I can’t wait until I can have you in here again!
