Recently, a discussion came up in our local community Facebook group about what age parents let their kids walk downtown in Exeter. The opinions varied, of course, but what a local business owner in another town said stuck out to me.
I don't remember her exact words but the vibe was that she made it known to her community that her shop is a safe space for kids to stop in if they need help. You all might already know this because of the kind of interactions we have, but we want to officially put it out there that our shop is here for you in the same way!
If you have a child/teen and they're walking around downtown on their own and they feel unsafe, just need a safe space or an adult, their phone dies, they need water, etc, Alchemy & Herbs welcomes them! They can talk to us, or they can sit in our comfy chair that has a little privacy. We're happy to give them water, a little herbal tea, let them use our phone chargers, make a call to you for them, or just let them sit.
This goes for adults too! While we can't fully be a "third space" with just one comfy chair, we do love being a place that is here for our community. Stop in to cool off, have a chat, or sit in our chair and flip through our mini herb library. We love to see you.
